The Portsmouth Lady Trojans defeated Ottawa-Glandorf 53-48 to win their 2nd consecutive State Championship in D5. PHS was led by KeKe Woods' 26 points, which is now the school record for most points scored in any PHS state tournament game. Sienna Allen added 13 points, and she ended her outstanding career with 1,789 points. The Lady Trojans have now won 13 consecutive tournament games. They went 4-1 overall in their 3 Final appearances from 2024--2026. Coach Amy Hughes secured her 18th tournament win in the period from 2024--2026, which surpasses the 17 wins by Joe Suboticki (1988-1990) and Dick Hopkins (1978--1980). PHS is now one of only 7 schools in all of Ohio that has at least 2 state titles in girls and boys basketball, and have at least 6 state titles total.
The Lady Trojans went 73-11 from 2024--2026, which is the most wins in a 3 year period in school history, topping the 72-8 mark by the boys teams of 1988--1990.
